Selfie Craze Continues With “Guess My Baby’s Sex” Trend

Selfie Scan

A survey by Netmums has found that a third of parents upload scans to social media, such as Facebook, and invite friends and family to ‘guess the sex’. The news comes after MyFaceMyBody revealed that 100{19761799e1353b7a6a49a5f02d3172230495afcde52b198895f8f3ba7ac759cb} of people surveyed have considered some form of cosmetic procedure after seeing a ‘selfie’ of themselves.

A fifth of expecting parents also put pictures on parenting sites asking for opinions of the baby’s sex and wanting theories of what gender the baby will be.

Netmums Managing Director, Rimi Atwal, said: ‘Selfies at 10 weeks gestation may seem strange but young mums use selfies at every step of their lives, so sharing scan pictures is the natural way to involve friends, families and even strangers in their pregnancy.’

Stephen Handisides, from MyFaceMyBody, said: “Social media is the perfect way to reach out to friends and family as well as experts, so it’s no surprise that this trend is happening.”
