Hair Transplant Captured On Film

A complete hair transplant procedure carried out on a 36 year old man with male pattern baldness has been captured on film at a top cosmetic treatment provider, Mapperley Park Clinic in Nottingham.  It is being used to help men overcome their fears about such procedures as a treatment to baldness and to help them make an informed decision particularly with hair transplants now being very much in the spotlight following similar procedures carried out on the likes of footballer Wayne Rooney, actor James Nesbitt and rugby player Keiren Bracken.

Andrew Icke, who is a barber and owner of a salon in Nottingham said: “Losing my hair has always bothered me and it wasn’t something I was just willing to accept. I have been determined to find a solution and a way of restoring my hair as well as my confidence in my looks so that I like what I see in the mirror which, being a barber, I stand in front of all day!!  I decided on a hair transplant a couple of years ago and have been researching it ever since. There are so many choices and clinics out there that it’s difficult to know which route to choose but when I came across the specialists at Mapperley Park Clinic they really seemed to care about coming up with a solution which was right for my own particular circumstances so I was really happy for them to carry out the procedure.”

“I also wanted to share my experiences with others in a similar situation which is why I was happy for the procedure to be filmed and I am also keeping a blog to record my experiences,” he continued. “Baldness is still a bit of a taboo subject, particularly with men, and treated as a joke, but it does affect us and my hope is that through showing the transplant and talking about it, people will learn about the procedure, be better informed and consider it as an option for them.”

Mapperley Park Clinic has been delivering private medical services since 1993 and surgical procedures, including hair transplants since 2006. These are all performed by renown plastic surgeon Mr Harris Haseeb who has performed over 700 such procedures.

He said: “I was keen to capture this procedure on film as there is such an array of treatments, methods and providers out there.  It is vital people are made fully aware of their options so they can make an informed decision about the best solution for them, whatever their personal circumstances.”

Hair loss covers a range of conditions, from genetic alopecia and hormonal and stress disorders to male pattern baldness and Mapperley Park Clinic employs nurses, doctors, consultant dermatologist Dr Rabi Nambi and plastic surgeon Mr Harris Haseeb to advise on the best treatments for each individual case. These include topical medications, new laser-cap technologies and both strip-harvest and FUE hair techniques, like that carried out on Wayne Rooney.
