Hollywood legend’s cosmetic surgery restored her confidence

Sixties legend Jane Fonda has revealed that she feels – and looks – better than ever at age 73, and it’s all thanks to a healthy lifestyle and cosmetic surgery.

Fonda – who became the subject of many men’s fantasies when she starred as the fantasy figure Barbarella in the sixties film of the same name – told the Today Show’s Matt Lauer that she was "happier now than I was before", and that had not been what she expected to be saying at 73.

Fonda – who also made one of the world’s best-selling fitness videos, ‘The Jane Fonda Workout Video,’ 29 years ago in 1982 – told Lauer that her decision to have cosmetic surgery came about after she caught a glimpse of herself in a mirror and realised that she was no longer happy with her appearance.

“I thought, ‘Oh my God, it’s me. I feel so great and so rested and I look so different and I just decided — and I’m not proud of it — I decided I wanted to look more like how I feel," she said.

“I just decided I wanted to buy myself some time and look more like how I feel,” added Fonda. She opted for cosmetic surgery on her chin, neck and under her eyes to remove bags.

Since the surgery, Fonda – who has been married three times – feels better than ever, and has released two new fitness DVDs, both aimed at older viewers, and a book entitled ‘Prime Time: Love, Health, Sex, Fitness, Friendship, Spirit — Making the Most of all of Your Life.’

She also reiterated the importance of a healthy lifestyle and diet to looking your best. It’s important to exercise when you’re younger, but it’s like the number one ingredient for successful ageing. It makes a difference for all aspects of your life and your body … It’s never too late,” she added.
