Tackling fine lines and wrinkles is top of the priority list for many, and the rise in the number of people booking in for cosmetic surgery procedures such as dermal fillers and botox proves it.
According to the Harley Medical Group, there has been a nine per cent rise in bookings for botox and dermal fillers, both of which can help to plump the skin and minimise the appearance of facial lines.
The majority of treatments are carried out on the area around the eyes and on the forehead, and, whilst it is still mainly women who are opting for these procedures, increasing numbers of men are also booking in.
Leading Nurse Counsellor at the group, Lisa Littlehales, said, “Repetitive facial expressions can lead to deep wrinkles and lines developing on the skin, resulting in a ‘permanent’ expression on the face.
“Constant frowning, creasing of the brow when thinking, and rubbing the forehead all result in lines and wrinkles appearing. Patients often tell us people have commented that they look angry or upset because of their frown and worry lines, and this has inspired them to book in.
Botox and dermal fillers injected along the length of the lines will help to rejuvenate the skin, and create a more youthful appearance,” added Ms Littlehales.
Some of the lines that customers are hoping to tackle include frown lines, which appear between the eyebrows, and worry lines, which appear across the forehead.
One client, Natasha Boast, who had fillers in order to look and feel younger and more attractive and confident, said that she is delighted with the results. “I started to look permanently cross, as my frown line between my eyes was so strong … I decided to have fillers and am so pleased I did. I feel happier and more positive and don’t feel miserable when I catch myself in the mirror,” she said.
