The longest-serving news presenter on UK television, Kay Burley, has opened up about the facelift that helped her regain confidence in her looks.
The Sky News reader is no stranger to cosmetic surgery, having treated herself to an eyelift for her 40th birthday and then to a facelift and necklift for her recent 50th birthday. She has now revealed that the procedure has helped her to look and feel her very best.
“People say, ‘It’s because you’re on the telly’. No, it’s because I’m a woman and I want to look nice. If Mother Nature needs a helping hand, why not?” she told The Mirror.
Burley’s facelift was carried out by the president-elect of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, Rajiv Grover, and, according to the TV personality was "money well spent".
Burley went on to say, “I did it because I wanted to look a little bit better than I was looking when I woke up in the morning. I’m on television, which is a visual medium. I try to do my job the best I can for Sky but I try to look the best I can for me.
“I’m very happy with the results. My friends have all said, “Wow! It’s fantastic, who did it?” she added.
Burley – who is a single mother to son Alexander – now feels happy and confident in front of the cameras, and advises other people who are considering having a cosmetic surgery procedures carried out to do their research first and ensure they choose the right surgeon to suit their needs.
“I don’t want to be a poster girl for having cosmetic surgery, but I’m very happy to say, ‘Don’t be frightened, do your research, choose the right surgeon, and if you still want to go ahead, then don’t worry’,” Burley added.
