Visiting a spa has never been more popular – why are we mad for a spa therapy in the UK?
Thanks to a growing trend among consumers to manage and reduce stress, look good and lose weight the spa industry has become an important contributor to the UK economy with around 800 day, residential, leisure club and hotel spas in the UK.
What is it about a spa treatment that is so good and why are they so popular?
Stephen Handisides, who launched the MyFaceMyBody Awards, believes they are on-trend at the moment because of what they offer to a stressed, busy consumer. “We’ve reached a point where the metrosexual man is in the mainstream and women talking about anti ageing treatments is the norm.
“We are also working harder than ever before in a tough economic climate, so being able to switch off for a few hours and be pampered is appealing to the stressed commuter, over worked office worker or self employed worker alike.
“A spa is also a sociable experience. Groups of friends are taking a day off and saying ‘let’s meet up, be pampered and relax before we return to our busy lives.”
