Sheen smiling after cosmetic dentistry

Troubled actor Charlie Sheen has showed off a new and improved Hollywood smile following a visit to a cosmetic dentist.

The 46-year-old screen star posted a picture of himself grinning at the camera with an arm around cosmetic dentist Dr Kevin Sands on his Whosay page.

Referring to the recent dental work, Sheen said he now possessed a “grill” and described Dr Sands as “brilliant”. He also spoke of how his new smile would help to get him ready for some fresh projects, hinting that, among other things, a deal with car manufacturer Fiat and a new sitcom are on the cards.

He wrote: “today spent w/ brilliant cosmetic dentist Dr Kevin Sands! the grill now perfect for Fiat, DirectTV & Anger Management! Smile world! cs.”

Sheen, who suffered dental problems during a long battle against substance abuse, was photographed in December sporting several gold replacement teeth.

But it seems the thrice married father-of-five may be taking steps to clean up his image and put his troubled past behind him.

Sheen was fired from Two and a Half Men last year after almost eight years of playing Charlie Harper because of his bizarre public behaviour and bouts of wild partying.

However, the actor says he wants a “mellower” future. "I'm not crazy anymore. That was an episode. I'm a different person than I was yesterday. Let's just say I have a mellower plan,” he said.

He is expected to make his comeback in about five months with his adaptation of the 2003 Adam Sandler-Jack Nicholson film “Anger Management”. Sheen will play Nicholson's role of an anger management counsellor.

The star's new comedy concept was bought by US television channel FX. Explaining why the channel have backed Sheen, FX president John Landgraf said, “I believe in redemption.”
