Annual global cosmetic surgery spend tops £25 billion

According to a new report, people across the globe are now spending between £17 and £25 billion every year on cosmetic surgery procedures.

The report, entitled 'Cosmetic Surgery Markets,' revealed that the number of both surgical and non-surgical treatments being carried out is rising faster than ever, with the amount skyrocketing in turn.

Some of the most popular cosmetic procedures across the globe include liposuction, breast augmentation, laser skin resurfacing and rhinoplasty.

Beverly Hills-based cosmetic surgeon Dr. Francis Palmer has spoken out about the findings, advising those considering having a treatment done to ensure they select a qualified and experienced surgeon or technician to do the job.

Dr. Palmer's book, 'The Palmer Code,' aims to ensure customers make the best decisions about procedures and opt for ones that will make a real difference to their lives and their confidence.

The Palmer Code contains a mathematical formula worked out following years of research which helps to 'define' beauty' based on the angles and proportions of the face and body.

Each person has an individual Palmer Code number ranging from 1 to 100, which shows how attractive they appear to others.

This definition of beauty aims to prevent 'surgical mishaps' and takes the 'guess work' out of procedures by showing people the procedures which will 'measurably improve their appearance.'

Dr. Palmer said, “It seems there are an increasing number of procedures and treatments based more on marketing hype than proper beauty aesthetics. It's buyer beware, which means consumers must be educated and well informed about what will and will not make them look better.

“The information [contained within The Palmer Code] will empower them to make the correct choices so they can become more youthful and naturally attractive in a predictable and consistent manner which, I believe, is always money well spent,” Dr. Palmer added.
