Fillers are the ‘ideal’ solution to reverse the signs of ageing

Facial fillers are the ideal way to combat the signs of ageing, according to an expert dermatologist.

Dr. Tony Nakhla, cosmetic surgeon and head of the OC Skin Institute, told the Charlotte Observer that injected liquid fillers can erase, correct or even reverse the signs of weight loss and ageing extremely effectively.

However, he advised aiming for a natural look rather than attempting to appear decades younger.

“Don't try to dial the clock back 15 or 20 years. You can look great for your age. Your focus should be on looking your personal best. And the cost is thousands of dollars cheaper than surgery, can last two years, and doesn't require downtime or anesthesia,” he told the newspaper.

Nakhla, who wrote the tome, The Skin Commandments: 10 Rules to Healthy, Beautiful Skin, explained the difference between botox and fillers.

He advised that botox is best used for frown lines and wrinkles in the upper face, including crow’s feet around the eyes. “It irons out existing wrinkles and helps prevent the formation of new ones, whilst fillers are good for wrinkles where the skin is sinking or sagging,” he told the newspaper.

Facial fillers can also help to boost the skin’s own production of collagen.

“You can join the 1.8 million individuals who turned to injectable fillers last year to fill in wrinkles, lift jowls, rejuvenate thin lips, erase deep grooves under the eyes, restore volume in deflated cheeks, smooth concave temples, plump up the skin on the back of hands,” he added.
