Yummy mummies opting for botox confidence boost

Mothers are increasingly turning to non-surgical cosmetic treatments such as botox and dermal fillers to achieve that renewed boost of confidence.

Keen to tap into the yummy mummy trend, mothers across the UK have been booking in for procedures including skin peels and medical microdermabrasions. According to the Harley Medical Group, the number of mums enjoying such treatments has skyrocketed by 26 per cent over the last two months alone.

The reason behind the rise in interest has been put down to competition to look their best at the school gates for the start of the news school term, with newspapers printing photos of yummy mummies including Elle McPherson and Claudia Schiffer picking up their children from school.

Specialist Nurse Counsellor at The Harley Medical Group, Lisa Littlehales, said, “Lots of mums come in for non-surgical treatments before their children start school again.

“Most of these women have minimal spare time and don’t have time to put on makeup every day, so non-surgical treatments which are quick and with minimal pain mean that with busy term times, they are a great option. Most last up to a minimum of three months, which means that mums will stay looking great and feeling confident at the school gates all term,” added Ms Littlehales.

The five most popular non-surgical procedures being booked by mothers included botox, followed by dermal fillers, skin peels, microdermabrasion and non-surgical facelifts.

Television presenter and mother-of-two Jenny Powell, 43, opened up about her own reasons for opting for a non-surgical treatment. “Once the school term starts again I feel especially conscious about my appearance in front of the other mums at the school gate … In order to make sure I look and feel my best before the new term I tend to have a medical microdermabrasion treatment.”

Ms Powell went on to say that the treatment never failed to rejuvenate her skin and ‘make it look amazing,’ even without any makeup.
