Mesotherapy is a technique that involves having lots of tiny injections to reduce unwanted fat and cellulite and improve skin tone and texture. Although its popularity is only now beginning to grow in the UK, the treatment is very popular in Europe, especially in France where it was first discovered for use in general medicine. The fluid injected is a cocktail of vitamins, amino acids and medications, which are injected millimetres under the skin to break down fat. The treatment is particularly good for dealing with cellulite but can also minimise fat on the stomach, thighs, chin and love handles. The mesotherapy treatment takes around 30-45 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated and you will need a course of treatments to get the best results. Mesotherapy has now been used successfully by some practitioners for the treatment of cosmetic conditions, including skin rejuvenation and improvement, hair regrowth, localised fat reduction and as a treatment for cellulite.  There are a number of mesotherapy clinics around the U.K which you can find on our clinic directory.

Am I a Candidate? Mesotherapy is a precise procedure, so is good for tackling stubborn pockets of fat in specific areas such as the stomach, thighs, chin and love handles.

Before Treatment It is important to outline your goals with your practitioner and how you would like to look afterwards. It may be that a more invasive solution would be a better solution to your problem.

During Treatment Mesotherapy involves multiple injections beneath the surface of the skin using a very fine needle. The treatment can help to improve circulation, replace lost vitamins, minerals and amino acids, or boost levels of hyaluronic acid. Each treatment takes about 10-20 minutes and is generally not painful. If you find it uncomfortable, a topical anaesthetic can be applied prior to treatment. Micro-injections are given every couple of weeks for 2-3 treatment courses. Some individuals may require a longer initial course of treatment. When the desired effects are achieved, you will require a maintenance program every 2-3 months or so.

Recovery You can resume normal activities immediately after a mesotherapy treatment.

Benefits Mesotherapy in the treatment of ageing skin aims to replace minerals, vitamins and amino acids that are found in lower levels in skin as we age. It can also boost levels of hyaluronic acid in the skin to maintain firmness and texture. The procedure helps to stimulate collagen production, which can improve skin tone and help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Risks and Complications Fine needles are used to minimize any discomfort. Possible side effects may be some slight bruising or swelling which should vanish in a day or so. Some individuals may experience an allergic reaction to the products used, although this is a rare occurrence.

Cost Prices for mesotherapy range from £200 per treatment, up to £1,500 for a course of eight.

Choosing a Practitioner Mesotherapy is a natural medicine technique that should only be performed by a licensed health care clinician who has been trained in the procedure.  We have a number of mesotherapy clinics around the U.K including London. Manchester, South Hampton and Dublin
