During Treatment

How your cellulite treatment is performed will depend on the type of treatment you are having done. Before you undergo any form of cellulite treatment you will need to book a consultation with the clinic or salon you are considering having your treatment at. The practitioner will discuss your reasons for wanting the treatment with you and make sure there are not any medical reasons for you not to proceed. You will usually also be asked to sign a consent form to make sure you fully understand what the treatment involves and any possible risks and complications.

VelaSmooth

The VelaSmooth treatment combines simultaneous vacuum suction, mechanical rollers, and heating through infrared light (which generates heat to mobilise fat cells) and bi-polar radiofrequency (RF) energy (which aids new collagen formation) to improve circulation and remove toxins and fluid through lymphatic drainage. The hand-piece is placed directly over the treatment area. The mechanical rollers and vacuum suction ‘pull up’ the skin so there is gentle stretching of the skin surface as the applicator is passed over the area. A cooling spray is applied to the treatment area to protect your skin. The VelaSmooth practitioner will adjust the energy of the VelaSmooth machine for your comfort. You will feel a pinching sensation as the suction gets to work.

Your skin may also feel slightly warm after treatment. Some patients report that the VelaSmooth cellulite reduction treatment feels like a warm deep tissue massage. A complete session takes up to one hour, depending on the size of the area that’s being treated. Clinical trials show a 70 per cent improvement in the appearance of cellulite. Patients with grade III cellulite (obvious on standing) require 10 or more treatments, but results should start to show after around six. However up to 16 VelaSmooth treatment sessions of between 45 and 60 minutes performed twice a week may be needed to achieve the best results. It is recommended to then have a maintenance treatment once every three months. You may notice some tightening in the treated area immediately after your VelaSmooth procedure. People who have VelaSmooth treatment see an average hip size reduction of 3-5cm and an improvement in the texture and contouring of the skin.

Endermologie

Before your Endermologie treatment begins you will be asked to put on a body stocking. The machine is then run over your body to stimulate circulation and lymphatic drainage, with particular focus on the buttocks, thighs and other areas of the body you want treated. The treatment uses patented technology, which combines specially designed rollers with strong suction. The treatment is not painful but can be uncomfortable in certain areas. Most people describe the sensation as being like an intensive deep tissue massage.

The treatment takes around 35 minutes and you will need between 10 and 15 treatments twice a week to achieve optimum results. Maintenance treatments once a month are recommended. The treatment promises to produce visible results after just three hours. Over a course of treatment you can also expect to see inch loss and reduction of cellulite in your problem areas. Results can last for up to six months and maintained with a monthly treatment.

Bridge2Aid

More than 70% of the world's population have no access to the simplest of dental pain relief, leaving billions to face a daily battle with pain in the toughest of life circumstances.

Bridge2Aid was founded as a response to this terrifying problem, by providing access to dental pain relief and to help the millions of people suffering in the developing world. Focussing on sustainability, and with the help of dentists and nurses from the UK, they train more than 48 health workers each year with plans for expansion. Because of this work, an estimated 1.7 million people now live within reach of someone who can help them when they have dental pain.

Bridge2Aid sends around 120 volunteer dentists and nurses from the UK out to East Africa to help train local health workers in basic extraction techniques. This is an area where people have no access to pain relief, leaving millions in pain, and often it lasts years - leaving people unable to work and feed their families.

There are Clinical Officers in place who look after around 20,000 people and dress wounds, deliver babies etc but they don't have any dental training - so this is where we come in! They have 1 week theory and then spend 2 weeks of intensive hands-on training time with our volunteers. If they "pass" the programme, they are given all the equipment they will need to care for their own communities.
