Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical treatment which can refresh the appearance of the skin, helping to diminish sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, and coarse textured skin. Microdermabrasion treatment takes about 20-30 minutes and is sometimes called a ‘lunchtime peel’ because there is little or no recovery time. It can greatly reduce the appearance of blemishes, whiteheads and blackheads, as well as reducing the look of fine lines and wrinkles, for a more youthful appearance. The treatment uses a powerful device to spray microcrystal’s of very fine, hard sand-like aluminum dioxide across the skin’s surface which blasts away the uppermost layer of dead skin cells on the skin’s epidermis, exposing the skin beneath and promoting the growth of new, fresh skin and stimulating the production of collagen. Microdermabrasion can be uncomfortable, but is not normally painful. It is usually performed in a dermatologist’s or doctor’s office and can be performed on the face neck, chest, back and hands. Your microdermabrasion doctor may recommend a series of four to six treatments for best results, with healing time in between. Find a microdermabrasion specialist here.
