Risks and Complications

Dermabrasion side effects may include:

  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Itching
  • Burning sensation
  • Skin tightness
  • Blistering
  • Skin crusting

These should all be temporary and resolve themselves within 7-10 days as you skin heals. Complications or more long-term side effects of the treatment include:

  • Change in skin pigmentation
  • Whiteheads
  • Enlarged skin pores
  • Infection
  • Scarring
  • Excessive scar tissue
  • Bleeding
