Do I have Acne?
Acne is readily identified by the appearance of the spots, present on the face, neck, chest or back. If you have any of the following, you may have acne:
• Oily skin
• Blackheads and whiteheads
• Red spots and yellow pus-filled pimples
• Large, tender spots or cysts
There are several varieties of acne and a visual examination of your skin by your doctor will determine whether you have acne and which type you have. The most common type is called acne vulgaris, the most severe is cystic acne or noduloscystic acne, which can lead to permanent scarring.
