Risks and Complications

A tummy tuck is a major surgical procedure so does carry an increased risk of complications and more downtime than some other cosmetic surgery procedures.

Risks can include the following:

* Infection
* Bleeding
* Nerve or skin damage
* Damage to vital organs
* Blood or fat clots
* Friction burns
* Drug reactions e.g. to medication or anaesthesia
* Complications as a result of anaesthesia
* Excessive fluid loss which, if left untreated, could lead to shock
