It is important to choose a surgeon that is qualified and highly experienced in liposuction techniques. If any complications arise during surgery, an experienced physician will know how to deal with them efficiently. Also, the more patients a surgeon has treated, the more practised they should be at using various liposuction techniques.

Plastic surgeons usually have had extra training and experience specifically to do with liposuction techniques. Accredited hospitals or clinics should also be used for all procedures.

Before and after photos of other patients will also give a good indication of a specific surgeon’s results. If there appears to be excessive swelling or bruising, the surgeon may have been too rough with the patient.

A good surgeon will be willing to discuss in detail all options and techniques available and be able to answer any specific questions about the procedures. A doctor should also be committed to patient safety and follow-up care.
