What is a Buttock lift?
A buttock lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure designed to improve the shape and appearance of the bum. As we age, skin loses its elasticity and gravity takes its toll, meaning that the bum can lose its youthful firmness. Your bottom can be made to look more aesthetically pleasing using a number of methods including liposuction, injectable body contouring using fillers such as Macrolane™, fat transfer or buttock implants. New methods are constantly being developed to lift or improve the bum, so it is important to have a detailed consultation with a cosmetic surgeon to investigate your options before embarking on buttock lift surgery. Am I a Candidate for a Buttock Lift?
If age and gravity have caused your buttocks to sag, or if you were simply born with a flat or shapeless bottom, then you may be an ideal candidate for a butt lift or buttock implants. A buttock lift will lift, shape and firm the buttocks to boost volume and give you a nice youthful contour.
Before Surgery – Before buttock augmentation surgery, you should think carefully about your reasons for having the surgery and be sure that this procedure is the best solution for you. There are currently non-invasive options for boosting the buttocks, such as Macrolane fillers, which may deliver the results you require without having to undergo painful and expensive surgery.
During Surgery – During a buttock lift procedure, the cosmetic surgeon will make incisions across the upper buttock. Half-moon shaped segments of skin and fat from underneath the surface of the skin are removed from the buttock area, then the remaining skin and tissue are lifted to achieve a tighter and smoother effect. A buttock lift operation is designed to improve the appearance of loose or sagging skin around the buttocks, so it is often combined with liposuction in order to remove any excess fat for a complete reshaping of the bottom. After a buttock augmentation, firm elastic bandages are applied to support the area. A buttock lift usually takes several hours, depending on the extent of work required, and whether any other procedures such as liposuction are required. Recovery – The recovery time after a buttock lift procedure usually involves a 1-2 stay in the clinic. Most patients find that they can return to work after a 1-2 weeks of recuperation but it may be up to six weeks before you feel completely back to normal. Benefits of a Buttock Lift
Stars like Beyonce and J-Lo have made having a bootylicious bottom a desirable asset. A buttock lift is a surgical procedure that removes excess tissue and skin, helping to lift the buttocks and produce a more shapely A-list behind.
Risks and Complications – Bruising after buttock lift surgery is usually quite light but swelling is considerable and can take several weeks to disappear. You may also experience temporary numbness of the skin around the buttocks after this procedure. Other very rare risks and complications include infection, a reaction to the anaesthetic, blood or fluid collection underneath the skin, nerve damage and an uneven appearance of the buttocks after the operation. Buttock Lift Costs
Prices for a buttock lift procedure are usually from £5000-£6500, although this can be considerably more if other procedures such as liposuction are involved.
Choosing a Plastic Surgeon – Only fully trained and qualified cosmetic surgeons should perform buttock lift surgery. This is not a commonly performed procedure in the UK, so is particularly important to find a cosmetic surgeon who specialises in buttock lift surgery treatments.
