Good for your friend for trying to look her best before a wedding. I know a lot of women are concerned that they look 'old' and want to be as beautiful as possible for their big day! Cosmetic surgery is always an option. I've heard about a new procedure called the lifestyle lift. Supposedly it's non invasive. If people are concerned about looking like they've had work done, this might be an option.

I would personally recommend your friend sees someone for a consultation around 6 months before the wedding, so she can get good advice and if she doesn't like the effects of anything that she has had done by the Aesthetician it would have hopefully worn off by the date of the wedding.

Hope that helps

I I were in your position were in my friend would ask me that, I would say get it done after the wedding.. It's a big risk for her since there is still an upcoming wedding.. natural beauty is still the best way to showcase your true beauty. you husband marry you because he loves and accepts you for who you are. There's a good post here about pre wedding procedures: http://www.bride.net/2009/wedd…..-the-cost/

The best thing to do is to book an appointment with a surgeon as soon as possible. Make sure you've checked their credentials and are seeing someone who is an expert in the field you are considering  (use the find a specialist on the home page of this site: http://www.myfacemybody.com/ )

Many straight forward non-invasive techniques are perfect for the bride-to-be and can easily and quickly be performed in the run up to a wedding.

I would be interested in this too – would be good to know how far ahead from a big event you should have something like Botox.  Would hate to ruin an important moment but equally would be great to look your best if possible!

My friend is getting married late August. She is 39 and has a 'hang-up' about looking old in her weeding pics while her friends who married when they were in their 20s all have wedding pictures "frozen in time and looking young and lovely". Her main conern is her 'family frown' as well as the crowns feet around her eyes when she smiles. She keeps longing for some cosmetic procedure and as her wedding is close the pressure is on more than ever.

Am I correct in saying to her that the obvious thing for her to do is to have Botox or dermal fillers?

When we discuss this option she's keen but constantly comes back to the point that it's "a risk". What she means is that with so little time left before the big day she hasn't had an opportunity to 'trial' what it would look like. She worries if there's a bad reaction she'll look even worse in the pics!

Other than prescribing a big dose of valium to calm her down what else should I say? Is there a risk? Are there any other options?

thanks

Bridge2Aid

More than 70% of the world's population have no access to the simplest of dental pain relief, leaving billions to face a daily battle with pain in the toughest of life circumstances.

Bridge2Aid was founded as a response to this terrifying problem, by providing access to dental pain relief and to help the millions of people suffering in the developing world. Focussing on sustainability, and with the help of dentists and nurses from the UK, they train more than 48 health workers each year with plans for expansion. Because of this work, an estimated 1.7 million people now live within reach of someone who can help them when they have dental pain.

Bridge2Aid sends around 120 volunteer dentists and nurses from the UK out to East Africa to help train local health workers in basic extraction techniques. This is an area where people have no access to pain relief, leaving millions in pain, and often it lasts years - leaving people unable to work and feed their families.

There are Clinical Officers in place who look after around 20,000 people and dress wounds, deliver babies etc but they don't have any dental training - so this is where we come in! They have 1 week theory and then spend 2 weeks of intensive hands-on training time with our volunteers. If they "pass" the programme, they are given all the equipment they will need to care for their own communities.
