Diet and exercise are CRUCIAL whenever you're looking to lose weight and stay healthy. Liposuction is a great solution for some people (see below) and liposuction in conjuction with an exercise program and healthy eating diet can result in a very successful lifestyle change.

The best way to get that nice body shape and get rid of the fat is healthy eating and exercising. There's too many things that could possibly go wrong. Besides surgery may seem an easy way to become slim and beautiful, but is it really? Consider consulting specialist and get alternative advice before committing to a serious undertaking.

There are some key points to remember when deciding if liposuction is right for you. Here's a helpful checklist:

Pick the area you'd like to improve – upper arms, belly, buttocks, thighs, knees. Then go to our 'surgery' page to view what plastic surgery can offer.

Understand that the best candidates for liposuction are already at their normal weight and have firm skin.

Accept that liposuction will help remove pockets of excess fat in certain areas of your body, but won't successfully reshape your body if you have hanging skin or large folds of flab.

Be sure you're healthy, emotionally stable and realistic in your expectations of what liposuction can do for you.

Consider that the firmer and more elastic your skin, the more successful your post-liposuction look.

Realise that age is not a major factor, although older patients may not achieve the same results as younger patients who have tighter skin.

Accept that liposuction doesn't improve cellulite; it just removes the fat deposits underneath the cellulite.

Evaluate your financial resources – can you afford it?

In my reading about liposuction I come across the same words: tumescent lipo, ultrasound lipo. However, I also come across words such as VASER. smartlipo and iLipo.

Am I correct in thinking that the second list are different types of the first list? Does anyone rate one type of liposuction as better than another? I know it depends on where you want the procedure – I am researching because I want it performed on my stomach.

thanks!

We all have stubborn fat deposits in certain areas
of the body even after following a rigorous all the diet and exercise
routine. If so, liposuction might be the right solution for you.
Although liposuction is not a substitute for maintaining a healthy diet
and exercise regime, liposuction can remove areas of fat that don't
respond to traditional weight-loss methods.

Liposuction refers to a surgery that removes unwanted fat, and can
make you look and feel more confident, attractive, and beautiful.
Liposuction surgery decreases or lessens the localized fat deposits that
cannot be removed with the help of dieting or physical exercises. By
removing excess fat deposits, liposuction slims and reshapes specific
areas of the body. Thereby, liposuction improves your body contours and
proportion, and ultimately enhances your self-image. If done properly,
liposuction can dramatically improve your appearance even if it leads to
only a small amount of weight loss.
Whether you undergo traditional liposuction or Smart Lipo, liposuction
should be used for isolated or stubborn areas of fat and not as a
generic weight loss technique.

If you can honestly say "yes" to the following questions, then it is
strongly suggested that you consult with a board certified plastic
surgeon to see if you are a good candidate for liposuction treatment:

  • Have you made a determined effort to lose the stomach roll through exercise and diet?
  • If you are average height, do you weigh less than 200 pounds? Many
surgeons will not perform liposuction on patients over 200 pounds due to
    the effects of anesthesia.
  • Are you in good health?
  • Are you near your target weight? Liposuction would be possible only if you are not morbidly obese.

A board certified plastic surgeon, can utilize the liposuction to contour several areas of the body, including:

  • Abdomen
  • Hips
  • Thighs
  • Arms
  • Back Folds
  • Buttocks
  • Neck
  • Inner Knee

Liposuction surgery offers outstanding results when done on a younger
skin. Tumescent liposuction, ultrasonic assisted liposuction, power
assisted liposuction are just some of the types of liposuction that are
available to patients. The recommended age to undergo this surgery is 18
year or above. During a personal consultation, a board certified
plastic surgeon can listen your objectives and desires and tailor
liposuction solutions that best meet your needs.
