Man transforms himself into Superman through cosmetic surgery

Following on from our story yesterday about the increasing number of men keen to undergo cosmetic surgery procedures, one man has taken the plunge – in a bid to look just like his hero.
Comic book super-fan, Herbert Chavez, who lives in the Philippines, has undergone extensive cosmetic surgery in order to transform himself into super-hero, Superman.
Whilst all it took for Clark Kent to turn into Superman was a quick change in a phone box, Chavez, 35, had to go to considerably more trouble in order to get the ‘Man of Steel’ look that he wanted.
The cosmetic procedures first began in 1995, when Chavez booked in for a chin augmentation – to give him his hero’s famous cleft chin – and thigh implants – to make his legs more muscular.
Since then, according to the Philippines' Bandila News, he has been regularly having procedures – both surgical and non-surgical – in order to achieve his goal. Some of the other procedures he has had include rhinoplasty in order to change his nose into one that looks like Superman and silicone lip fillers to make them appear fuller.
Chavez’s home in Calamba City, which lies just south of the Philippines' capital, Manila, is filled with souvenirs and memorabilia relating to Superman, including comics, clothing, films, books, action figures and even several life-size statues.
Whilst Superman has been played by numerous actors – including the late Christopher Reeve, Jeff East and Dean Cain – over the years, as well as being depicted in many comic books and video games, Chavez has tried to achieve a look that straddles all of Superman’s various incarnations.
