Brides opting for big day cosmetic surgery

Every woman wants to look her absolute best on her wedding day, but many brides-to-be are taking it that bit further – booking in for cosmetic surgery procedures prior to saying 'I Do.'
An increasing number of soon-to-be-weds are undergoing procedures such as rhinoplasty and botox before their nuptials, in order to correct defects they may have felt self-conscious about for some time.
Many report that their upcoming wedding provided the push they needed to book a procedure they had been meaning to have for years, whilst others said they simply wanted a confidence boost for their big day.
According to a Californian-based cosmetic surgeon, brides are spending between $200 and $12,000 on surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures as they strive to look as beautiful as possible.
Dr Tenley Lawton told the Long Island Press that brides considering having a cosmetic procedure should ensure they do not go overboard. “What is most important is a woman has a realistic outlook on cosmetic surgery."
"They need to remember their future husband loves them the way they are. A little enhancement is one thing, but be cautious not to over-do it,” Lawton said.
Dr Lawton also advised women to plan ahead when booking in for a procedure prior to their wedding. “Typically, for most cosmetic procedures, it takes about six months before final results are seen,” she said.
The growing trend in pre-marital procedures has come about partly due to a US reality programme called Bridalplasty, in which brides-to-be competed to win a series of cosmetic treatments of their choice.
The most popular procedures amongst brides include botox/Juvederm, rhinoplasty, breast enlargement and body sculpting/liposuction.
