Dr Fab Equizi (The Lip Doctor) appears on the MyFaceMyBody TV Show

We’re here in the celebrity hotspot San Carlo’s Italian restaurant in Liverpool. We’re going to be asking some of the locals about what they do to look good.

What would you say a typical scouser girl is like?

Makeup. Dot. Orange.

False eyelashes. You name it.

Yeah.

Liverpool girls are all about the appearance.

Fake tan. Got to do a fake tan. Put my eyelashes on. Put my face on, and try and get my hair as big as I could.

I always have to have loads of makeup on because it makes you feel more confident when you go

So you’ve got some self-tan on tonight?

I do indeed.

Okay. Brilliant. What would you say the scouser guys do?if you looked out for yourself, like in Liverpool, you’d go on the sunbeds and everything.

It’s one extreme to the other. You either like care or you don’t care or, you’re a pretty boy, or hair done…

Six pack. Gym everyday.

Do you wear a bit of fake tan yourself?

No.

You’re sure? Positive.

Okay.

I’ve probably not got the best diet, but I do like sport. I like swimming and stuff like that.

Now I heard in Liverpool, there was something in the newspaper about these tablets that people ingest.

You can get tanning injections as well.

What about cosmetic surgery later on in the future, would you ever consider that?

Never say never. If technology and medicine can improve something that you don’t feel confident about, fix it.

Here at the Lip Doctor one of our most popular treatments is lip augmentation. This involves the injection of a filler made out of hyaluronic acid to define the shape and increase volume in the lips.

This type of treatment appeals to a wide variety of ladies, from the younger ones who want the sexy pout the lips or more volume to the older ladies who’ve lost volume through age and developed lines, in particular the smokers. We’re also doing more men.

Today I’m having my lips done, I’m having top and bottom, mainly to just give my lips more volume.

The procedure involves, first of all, numbing both lips with a exactly the same anesthetics you would get at the dentist. Once I’m satisfied the lips are numb, I’m going to run a fine bead of filler along the lip margins where you can also draw your lip line, or call the familian border, and that will define the shape and give it a touch of volume, and then I’ll be doing some different techniques to create volume within both upper and lower lip.

Innovative Awards For An Innovative Industry

The aesthetic and dental business is one of the most forward-looking industries in the world. It is constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible to achieve and matches technological advances with human endeavor to create stunning solutions which change people's lives for the better.

The MyFaceMyBody Awards wants to recognise and celebrate this.

The prestigious awards are the first awards within the aesthetic and dental industry where consumers are involved in the voting process. Every treatment and cutting-edge procedure is aimed at helping consumers, so why not let them have a say in the products and procedures which have changed their lives? Let consumers tell us which clinics they love?

For this reason the awards aim to recognise and reward brands for their product innovation and popularity. Clinics will also be rewarded for providing exceptional experiences and outstanding customer service.

Bridge2Aid

More than 70% of the world's population have no access to the simplest of dental pain relief, leaving billions to face a daily battle with pain in the toughest of life circumstances.

Bridge2Aid was founded as a response to this terrifying problem, by providing access to dental pain relief and to help the millions of people suffering in the developing world. Focussing on sustainability, and with the help of dentists and nurses from the UK, they train more than 48 health workers each year with plans for expansion. Because of this work, an estimated 1.7 million people now live within reach of someone who can help them when they have dental pain.

Bridge2Aid sends around 120 volunteer dentists and nurses from the UK out to East Africa to help train local health workers in basic extraction techniques. This is an area where people have no access to pain relief, leaving millions in pain, and often it lasts years - leaving people unable to work and feed their families.

There are Clinical Officers in place who look after around 20,000 people and dress wounds, deliver babies etc but they don't have any dental training - so this is where we come in! They have 1 week theory and then spend 2 weeks of intensive hands-on training time with our volunteers. If they "pass" the programme, they are given all the equipment they will need to care for their own communities.
