New Survey Reveals What Daughters Hate About Their Father’s Looks

Every father loves to be proud of his “little princess” but is the feeling always mutual? It seems not. 33% of women aged 25-35 said they hated their father’s hairy backs when they were small and wished dad had waxed it!

A further 28% said dad’s teeth were “scary” to them when they were young and 14% reported that they made fun of their father’s deep-set wrinkles. Beer bellies were another cause of childhood angst, as 17% said their father’s stomachs were a cause for dismay and embarrassment.

On the up side 8% said they always saw their fathers as “physically perfect” and never questioned their looks.

The research, carried out among 2220 MyFaceMyBody subscribers in the run up to Father’s Day, is the first to discover that how a dad looks affects their daughters as they grow up.

MyFaceMyBody.com presenter and cosmetic procedure expert Stephen Handisides said: “In fiction young girls always idolise their fathers and this survey blows that myth. For a young girl to compare her dad to the others at the school gate and see that he is overweight with crooked teeth and balding hair, it can be awkward and uncomfortable.

“There is hope however. There are treatments available for all these problem areas and many men are now realising the benefits of having them. The top five surgical procedures for men in 2010 were: nose reshaping, eyelid surgery, liposuction, breast reduction and hair transplantation*.”

MyFaceMyBody.com is the UK’s only TV chat show dedicated to cosmetic procedures, showing on Information TV (Sky Channel 166 and Freesat 402). Bridge2Aid

More than 70% of the world's population have no access to the simplest of dental pain relief, leaving billions to face a daily battle with pain in the toughest of life circumstances.

Bridge2Aid was founded as a response to this terrifying problem, by providing access to dental pain relief and to help the millions of people suffering in the developing world. Focussing on sustainability, and with the help of dentists and nurses from the UK, they train more than 48 health workers each year with plans for expansion. Because of this work, an estimated 1.7 million people now live within reach of someone who can help them when they have dental pain.

Bridge2Aid sends around 120 volunteer dentists and nurses from the UK out to East Africa to help train local health workers in basic extraction techniques. This is an area where people have no access to pain relief, leaving millions in pain, and often it lasts years - leaving people unable to work and feed their families.

There are Clinical Officers in place who look after around 20,000 people and dress wounds, deliver babies etc but they don't have any dental training - so this is where we come in! They have 1 week theory and then spend 2 weeks of intensive hands-on training time with our volunteers. If they "pass" the programme, they are given all the equipment they will need to care for their own communities.
