UK’s 1st dedicated Cosmetic Surgery TV show comes to Sky this Spring

MyFaceMyBody launches tri-media consumer resource

March 2010 sees the launch of the UK’s first TV programme dedicated to cosmetic surgery, non-surgical procedures, dentistry and wellbeing. Each episode of the programme, presented by industry expert Stephen Handisides, will look at the latest treatments and procedures to hit the U.K market. The programme also makes up part of a new tri-media offering to both consumers and industry.

The MyFaceMyBody TV programme is a 30-minute chat show, produced monthly, that will be screened 12 times per month on InformationTV, Sky Channel 166 and Freesat.402. The first episode will be screened in early March.

The programme aims to give consumers a better understanding of different invasive and non-invasive cosmetic surgery treatments, the benefits and risks and how to go about choosing the right surgeon or clinic. Each programme is designed to be entertaining and engaging as well as educational, and will see presenter Stephen Handisides undertake challenges and interviews to prove a point and bust some of the myths about the industry. In the first episode, for example, Handisides jumps out of an aircraft with two breast implants strapped to his chest, to prove just how strong they really are! The research team at MyFaceMyBody will also be conducting regular polls and surveys to bring the industry fresh statistics and trend information every month, on the topics consumers really are interested in.

The show will also cover the latest international news, with items on clinics, procedures and trends from around the world.

As well as it’s TV transmissions, the programme will also be available to watch on demand on consumer website MyFaceMyBody.com. The site launched in February 2009 and already carries over 2000 pages of independent treatment advice, 200 educational videos and comprehensive news and events. A pilot episode of MyFaceMyBody is already available to watch on the website. Viewers can also use the website to quiz experts and engage in discussions during or after the show.

Making up the tri-media offering, MyFaceMyBody is also partnering with consumer magazine Absolute Cosmetics, with this partnership allowing for magazine features to be expanded on the website and for forthcoming programmes to be trailed through the publication.

The MyFaceMyBody Group is the brainchild of industry marketing guru Stephen Handisides, who through his work with a number of industry leading companies including Laresse and London Bridge Plastic Surgery has directly influenced the way cosmetic procedures are marketed and sold in the UK and overseas

Stephen Handisides says the idea for the tri-media approach was to offer the best to both consumers and industry:

“I’ve been developing MyFaceMyBody over the last few years as I felt consumers were struggling to find easily accessible and engaging yet totally independent information about the huge number of procedures on the market.

“The unique combination of the three media groups not only provides consumers with that information but also offers clinics, surgeons and suppliers an ideal opportunity to promote their business to millions of consumers across the country.”

This tri-media approach has enabled the group to offer business partners and sponsors huge and highly targeted exposure among consumers interested in cosmetic procedures. Later this year, MyFaceMyBody will be inviting a limited number of specialists and clinics to become part of their referral service including access to video and interactive media to form a unique route to market, unlike anything currently available within the cosmetic industry.

Among those already working with MyFaceMyBody is Xavier-G Medi Spa in Southampton, whose Client Services Director, Martin Mackenzie, says the relationship is already providing return on investment for the clinic:

“We recently had a new client that visited our clinic through the MyFaceMyBody.com web service. She was so impressed with our video profile that she booked an appointment immediately with us. We are very excited to be part of MyFaceMyBody.com.”
