UK’s first glossy for the cosmetic surgery and beauty industry launching out of Macclesfield
Tonight sees the official launch of Absolute Cosmetics, a free quarterly glossy magazine that is aiming to corner the UK cosmetics industry… from its home in Macclesfield.
The title, the brainchild of Kelly Wilson and her fellow joint MD Julie Mason, won’t actually be hitting coffee tables in clinics, surgeries, gyms, beauty salons and the like until 15 November, but this evening sees its launch party in London, with partner organisation MyFaceMyBody.com.
Absolute Cosmetics claims it is the first title to be produced by industry professionals that focuses exclusively on this growth sector – giving readers the chance to explore the reality of cosmetic surgey, garner advice on procedures and keep abreast of the latest news and developments in the sector.
“Our aim through launching the magazine and collaborating with MyFaceMyBody.com is to demystify what has become a very confused marketplace,” Wilson told How-Do.
“To give potential clients the knowledge to make informed decisions – this, in the end, will mean many more happy clients.”
Wilson has been a nurse for what she described as her ‘entire working life’, starting out in paediatrics before moving onto cosmetic surgery.
“It’s not a bandwagon I’ve suddenly jumped on,” she stressed, “and I feel very strongly that women need to be empowered with the information to make educated choices which will achieve the goals they are looking for.”
She continued by noting that “cosmetic surgery has become a minefield” and sadly one that harbours “some unscrupulous practitioners.”
Absolute Cosmetics will be aiming to set the record straight, promote best practice and take the knife to industry myths and misperceptions.
Its appeal is said to be broad enough to attract both industry professionals and everyday members of the public that might be considering procedures.
The title is launching with an initial print run of 10,000 copies and content from a broad range of industry commentators.
Following issues will be distributed next February, May and August.
